"Our mission is to combat the isolation and deprivation imposed by the prison system, which keeps individuals on the inside disconnected from those on the outside. We particularly focus on reaching out to transgender, queer, and gender-variant prisoners because they face disproportionate targeting by law enforcement and the justice system. The prison environment often further alienates these individuals, cutting them off from meaningful human interaction and the broader world. Through letter writing, we aim to share life stories and foster friendships, offering a way to understand the prison experience while connecting with others and resisting the systemic isolation, silence, and dehumanization perpetuated by the prison industrial complex. This effort is part of our vision for a world free from incarceration." - MWTPPP
