Nike is expected to become the national football federation clothing manufacturer

Nike Inc. is on the verge of becoming the official uniform provider for the National Football League (NFL) and the exclusive manufacturer of off-site apparel. According to a report by CNBC on the 11th, the deal still needs approval from the NFL team owners before it can be finalized. Under Armour Inc. will retain some limited clothing rights, particularly in relation to the NFL's comprehensive testing protocols. Since 2001, the NFL has had an apparel agreement with Reebok International Ltd. That contract was won by Reebok over Nike, with Reebok reportedly paying $300 million for a 10-year deal. The current agreement is set to expire at the end of the next season. The competition for this lucrative contract has been intense, with Nike and Adidas both vying for the opportunity. Adidas currently owns Reebok and also has a partnership with Under Armour. Nike has confirmed that it is in negotiations with the NFL but has not provided further details about the talks. Meanwhile, Adidas’ CEO, Herbert Hainer, stated in September that if another company offers more, they would consider accepting it, as losing the NFL apparel deal wouldn't be a major blow for the company. If Nike successfully secures the contract, the sports industry will be closely watching how fans react to the new brand. This move could significantly shift the landscape of sports apparel and influence future partnerships across other leagues. With the NFL being one of the most popular sports leagues in the U.S., the impact of such a decision could be far-reaching.
